OCCUPATION: Mama of 2, Nutrition Coach, Cross Fit Coach, Blogger

WHAT IS YOUR CLAIM TO FAME? My Blog and nutritional coaching business www.awalkmyway.com
HOW MANY CHILDREN? Makenna 7 and Miller 5
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TREAT/ CHEAT MEAL? HOW OFTEN DO YOU HAVE A CHEAT MEAL?
I have something I LOVE every day—it keeps me motivated and on track. One of my favorites is a piece of dark chocolate or Smoreables gluten free gram cracker with a little bit of my homemade cashew pecan butter spread on it.
And I LOVE gluten free pizza!
HOW DO YOU EAT WELL AS A MOM ON THE GO?
I plan ahead and make sure my house is filled with options that support my goals. I take time to plan out my weekly menus before Monday hits and schedules get crazy. Packing healthy snacks and bringing along my water bottle keeps me prepared for the day if I am away from the house so that I don’t get HANGRY and end up having to grab something on-the-go.
WHAT FOOD CAN’T YOU LIVE WITHOUT?
Nut Butter—I could eat it by the tablespoon!
WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CLEAN MEAL?
I love homemade burgers made of lean ground beef, elk or turkey, topped with a bit of goat cheese and arugula with a side of homemade sweet potato buns and some type of grilled veggie. Such a simple and super delicious go-to meal that ends up in our rotation almost weekly.
ARE THERE ANY FOODS THAT YOU AVOID AT ALL COSTS?
I am 100% gluten-free. I avoid anything containing gluten since being diagnosed with gluten sensitivity just over 5 years ago. Once I kicked it out of my diet my life changed and I have never looked back.
WHAT’S YOU FAVORITE EXERCISE?
I am a CrossFit addict and love to lift weights in any form—Olympic lifting or traditional physique lifting. I also love to go for a run and let my mind be free.
HOW DO YOU STAY MOTIVATED?
Exercise is my sanity! The hour a day I carve into my schedule to stay fit makes me a better mom, wife and human. It is my outlet. Food goes hand and hand with that. I call it the “Cycle of Awesome”…when nutrition and fitness are on point you just feel awesome and confidence radiates.
IF YOU COULD ONLY OFFER ONE TIP TO A MOM TRYING TO GET BACK INTO SHAPE WHAT WOULD IT BE?
Do what works for you! There are a million ways to eat and exercise. At the end of day you need some thing that is sustainable. You need to find something that you love doing, that you can maintain and that will keep you motivated.
WHEN YOU FEEL UNMOTIVATED WHAT DO YOU DO?
I listen to my body quite honestly. My motivation is HIGH so when I feel unmotivated I usually take it as a sign that I need to rest. If I still am struggling to get back in a groove, I meet up with a friend to workout to hold me accountable.
HOW HAS TRANFORMING YOURSELF PHYSICALLY MADE A DIFFERENCE IN YOUR LIFE?
Confidence hands down.
It is one of my favorite blog posts to share that I wrote called “Why Confidence Trumps Composition.” For me, body composition changes were a byproduct of regaining my confidence after becoming a mom and somewhat losing my sense of self. The value of being a confident woman is priceless and it bleeds out into all areas of life.
DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE RECIPE TO SHARE?
Yes, Sweet Potato Sliders!
IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU WOULD LIKE TO SHARE? DO YOU HAVE ANY WORDS OF WISDOM OR ADVICE, POSSIBLY SOMETHING THAT HELPED YOU GET TO WHERE YOU ARE NOW?
There is no substitute for hard work. Results will speak for themselves when you truly put in the effort. In marriage, in parenting, in business and in fitness, hard work gets you to where you want to be.
