WHAT IS YOUR CLAIM TO FAME? Dubbed the “No Excuse Mom” from my Facebook photo that went viral.

HOW MANY CHILDREN? Three Boys born in 2009, 2010 and 2011Maria and Kids

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE TREAT/ CHEAT MEAL? HOW OFTEN DO YOU HAVE A CHEAT MEAL? I am a dessert/candy/chocolate person all the way. I will treat myself to red wine and dessert 1-2 times a week. I couple that with some sushi or Mexican food if I can find a babysitter.

HOW DO YOU EAT WELL AS A MOM ON THE GO? I keep a lot snacks on hand. I have almonds in my car. I have a constant batch of tuna or boiled eggs in my fridge. I also resort to healthy fast food options if I am totally unprepared and starving.

WHAT FOOD CAN’T YOU LIVE WITHOUT? I love my egg whites with sun-dried tomatoes every morning.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE CLEAN MEAL? I really enjoy eating turkey meatballs. They are flavorful and great to couple with quinoa or brown rice.

WHAT’S YOU FAVORITE EXERCISE? I love any exercise for my rear end. After being pregnant for three years, I felt like my lower back became weaker and my hips wider. The ‘bubble butt’ I was used to having looked more like a flat pancake! I love squats, lunges, deadlifts, hip extensions and glute kickbacks.

HOW DO YOU STAY MOTIVATED? After training for several years, exercise has become a routine for me. However, taking my fitness to a different level of discipline requires me to set short term goals like a photoshoot, event or vacation that I can use as an accountability tool.

COFFEE OR TEA? I’m not really either. I didn’t drink coffee until my mid-twenties and that usually happened once a month. At night I may have some hot tea, but drinking either is a very conscious decision as my usual beverage of choice is water (or wine). LOL

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE RECIPE TO SHARE? One of my favorite recipes is a healthy ice cream I overheard one of my moms in my Mom-Me Fit Club discuss one day. Basically you just take a few frozen bananas, add a little almond milk, some peanut butter (and whatever else you want – I like sliced almonds and dark chocolate chips) and mix it in a food processor. It tastes just like ice cream and it lactose free! (I’m intolerant)

Maria and KidsMy last words of wisdom? When I was trying to lose weight after three kids the biggest word that rung in my mind was “consistency”. Even when I was tired, depressed, frustrated, overwhelmed or stressed – I had to keep going. Whatever you do, don’t give up. Keep pushing and eventually you will arrive.
